Some people (owners of certain breeds such as Great Danes, Dobermans, Boxers, Mastifs) often experience difficulty with the health of their dog's ears when they are not cut. The dog's ears are too big for the dog's head and greatly reduce the air circulation inside the ear. This causes infections when dirt gets in. Cutting the ears at an age no later than 3 months will almost eliminate the chances of infections later in the future. Some breeds of dogs cannot have their ears cut because they are too long, such as Cocker Spaniels, Beagles, Lhasa Apsos. These breeds will tend to experience more ear infections. Owners of these dogs will be required to clean the ears every day to avoid infection.
Why do people have their dog's ears cut? I think it is cruel!
